The "Fish" started out as a project to use up some of the shorter materials in my shop...I wanted to make a board to ride either prone like a belly board, kneeling, or standup...

In Jim Knistle's book "Surfboard Design And Construction", there were detailed plans for a Steve Lis Fish...The book had the planshape outline, and the rocker and thickness specifications...There was also a fin template and position details...Additionally there were very detailed rail cross sections...

The board came together pretty easy, this being my seventh hollow... The shape turned out to be a good one...The deck is a mild s-deck...The deck is also domed, to allow for the volume to float my 180#, yet be thin enough at the rail for a sensitive rail shape...

The bottom is mostly flat, for planing speed...There is 1/4" of vee in the tail to loosen it up a bit...The fins are a modified version of the Lis originals...They are foiled on both sides, but I added a bit more of a cutaway on the trailing edge base...They are set parallel, with no cant...

Board 16 is imine....

Below are some Fish boards that have been made during the workshop classes...
